Relics: New Art in Metal
By Richard Sturgeon
Jan 31-Feb 18
Opening Reception Tuesday Jan 31, 7-9pm
These sculptures in this show are on scale from desktop and hand held pieces to large-scale works suitable for corporate and public collections.
The show takes its name from my current series of abstract sculpture, RELIC, exploring the ideas of time as an endless cycle with fragments of memory and experience represented through the incorporation of found and fabricated objects captured and suspended within the whole. I’ve attached a photo of the sixth piece in this series, to be debuted at the show. Specific works in this series will be marked with a percentage of the selling price to be donated to the Alzheimer Society’s chapters in London/Middlesex and Sault Ste Marie/Algoma supporting those living with dementia and their caregivers.
Also in this show will be recent works from the abstract series Lateralus and my Canadian Landscapes series of freestanding sculpture and wall art.
Photos of current work will be updated as they come available on Richard Sturgeon’s Facebook page:
