Ekstasis
New Work by our resident artist Angie Quick
March 23 to April 3, 2010
Reception Friday March 26, 6-8pm
Ekstasis is a year’s worth of work by self taught artist Angie Quick. The show represents revelry and bacchanalian ecstasy. The body of work mainly includes oil paintings of a reasonably impressive proportion. With a use of lush bright colours and almost lewd brush strokes, scenes of rapture, passion and heathen religiosity are created. The paintings move with a momentous rhythm while still retaining a healthy clasp on a classical heritage. Ekstasis ultimately represents the feelings of unity and rhythm, a revelation of the seemingly disjointed becoming one. The show is, as the name suggests, the state of being rapt outside of oneself! All in time to be sweetly presented for the start of Spring.
