Sculpting the human head

In this 8-week workshop, will be an introduction to the tools, materials and techniques used to sculpt a human head in a classical tradition. Emphasis on anatomy, proportion, design and personal artistic growth will be addressed.

Sculpting sharpens your powers of observation and opens you to the beauty in the world around you.  You will have the opportunity to create something original and personal to share with others. Whether you’re drawn to art for the first time, preparing a portfolio for art school or mastering your craft, our program is right for you.

Students will be working on life size head. They will be using Terra Cotta (water-based clay) so they can have their work fired in a kiln, if they choose.  Most class meeting will consist of a lecture, demonstration, and work time with the teacher.
