Oil Painting in the Classical Tradition
Is it a mystery how painters of the 17th century were able to achieve such stunningly realistic effects in their paintings? This course is designed to acquaint students with the techniques of the Old Masters. By creating an underpainting or a grisaille, allowing it to dry, then employing paint applications like glazing, scumbling, dragging and impasto, one can discover the endless possibilities of this time honoured medium. Course will include demonstrations by the instructor, detailed explanations about color theory and values, blending techniques and much more. You will be amazed by the possibilities of oil paint.
